What’s On My Mind
I borrowed the two paragraphs below from Joy’s newsletter, but as usual, her words were perfect!
Thanks to Joyce Burke for all her work on our Annual Fresh Take conference. I think we all agree that Friday was a truly wonderful event! I enjoyed seeing so many CSD staff AND making new connections. It is such an important part of our journeys as educators to connect with other educators. I hope each of you will find this week to be a little more exciting thanks to the opportunity for learning and connecting on Friday! I realized AGAIN that I take our special school for granted EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!! Thank you for presenting! Thank you for volunteering! Thank you for your warmth and kindness shown to our guests! Thank you for being the amazing people you are each day…..for the good of our students! I am honored to know and work with you! Special kudos goes to Joyce Burke….wow! You never cease to amaze us! Thank you for making this event so wonderful….we all know it wouldn’t without you!
Special thanks to our arts team, students and Jim Dumser for the completion and installation of our beautiful “Love Locks” project. I hope you will take time to enjoy it! Every single staff member has a lock….find yours! Find your friends! And while you are at it, remember that each of those locks was made by the hands of our students….the kiddos we love so very much! Each time I walk by, I am drawn to stop and enjoy it a little more……I just focus in on one or two more of those precious locks….I read the name of that person and just take a moment to love and appreciate all that this person brings to our school. I hope you will do the same….it is quite the magical moment for me!

We are currently accepting proposals for Professional Development funding for upcoming year (2015)! Please know that we are working with a limited budget, so unfortunately, we will have to make some decisions in regards to what we will be able to fund. Therefore, not all proposals may be funded. We are especially interested in higher-end national conferences that will help us grow our school perspective as a whole. Keep in mind that all participants will be expected to present to staff at some point after attending thePD experience. All proposals are due by January 31st. If you are interested in applying for CSD professional development funding, please fill out the following form.
I think the best PD for this week is to reflect on the Fresh Take Conference by reading the #freshtake2015 Twitter feed. There are some great nuggets of wisdom here, so please take a few moments to check it out! If you are not on Twitter but are interested in creating an account, please don’t hesitate to ask for help. Twitter is a TERRIFIC resource for educators, and I highly recommend using it for PD. Take the plunge; it will be worth it, I promise!
