MS Weekly Staff Memo – January 19, 2015

What’s On My Mind

Dear Staff,

I hope you’ve had a wonderful long weekend and are feeling recharged for the week ahead!  Please continue to keep Kim Aichele in your thoughts as she lost her father over the weekend.   Kim, please know we love you and are sending you thoughts of love and comfort during this difficult time.

Wednesday will be an important staff meeting, so please make every effort to attend!  We are going to address some safety protocol issues as well as spend some time celebrating the beauty and blessings of our community and our chosen profession. 🙂

Speaking of celebrating… We want to offer a HUGE thanks to Joyce Burke for all her work prepping for our Annual Fresh Take conference.  I think it is going to be a wonderful event, and we are appreciative to Joyce and everyone who is helping to make this event possible!  I feel confident Joyce will need some last minute help this week so we appreciate any kind offers of assistance!

Yellow Cards are due January 22nd.  Please make sure you are following up with your advisory families about this important matter.  Once you have received all cards from your advisory, please place in box on Juli’s desk.  More to come at staff meeting on Wednesday….

We are currently accepting proposals for Professional Development funding for upcoming year (2015)!   Please know that we are working with a limited budget, so unfortunately, we will have to make some decisions in regards to what we will be able to fund.  Therefore, not all proposals may be funded.  We are especially interested in higher-end national conferences that will help us grow our school perspective as a whole.  Keep in mind that all participants will be expected to present to staff at some point after attending thePD experience.  All proposals are due by January 31st.  If you are interested in applying for CSD professional development funding, please fill out the following form.

This article spoke to me, although I wish the title could be tweaked.  My hope is that we NEVER give up on a student, but it has some good tips nonetheless.  http://pernillesripp.com/2015/01/13/7-things-to-try-before-you-give-up-on-a-student/
And in honor of the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday, I thought you might find this list of MLK Jr. quotes for educators inspiring.
